Dr. Evuti Aliyu Haruna is a distinguished consultant in Veterinary Epidemiology. He earned his DVM from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and in 2013, received the MacArthur Foundation scholarship for a Master's in Veterinary Epidemiology at ABU. He later obtained a Fellowship in Preventive Medicine and is currently pursuing a PhD in Food Safety at the Africa Center of Excellence for Mycotoxin and food Safety Federal University of Technology, Minna, funded by a World Bank grant.
From 2011 to 2020, Dr. Aliyu served as a Consultant Epidemiologist and Disease Reporting Officer at the Niger State Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development. In 2021, he joined the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) project, a World Bank-funded initiative in Nigeria.
Dr. Aliyu has extensive experience in research, disease outbreak investigations, and reporting. His work focuses on One Health and addresses global and public health threats from zoonotic diseases. He is dedicated to collaborative efforts for disease control and contributing to the Global Health Security Agenda. In 2023, Dr. Aliyu was a guest speaker at the WANIDA Symposium in Accra, Ghana, and he is honored to present a research paper at the 8th World One Health Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, in September 2024.
