Dr Gerardo Ceada is the manager of the organoid biobank at IRTA-CReSA (Barcelona, Spain). He studied Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Girona and completed a Master's in Multidisciplinary Research at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He earned a PhD in Biomedicine at the University of Barcelona-Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, where he developed enhanced culture platforms for mouse intestinal organoids and characterized the mechanobiological principles behind their self-organization into crypt- and villus-like domains. At IRTA-CReSA, he is currently developing various organotypic in vitro models from a wide range of livestock, domestic, and wild animal species to study epizootic and zoonotic infectious diseases.
