Martyn Jeggo is an adjunct professor at Deakin University within the Geelong Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases (GCEID). As the inaugural GCEID director he oversaw the development of collaborative research partnerships between the Australian Animal Health Research Laboratory, the Medical Faculty and Deakin University and Barwon Health in the area of One Health approaches to emerging infectious diseases. Over the course of his 30-year career, Jeggo has held a broad array of senior positions, from a veterinary surgeon in private practice, to more leadership roles at the Pirbright Laboratories, UK, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN), the CSIRO Australian Animal Health Laboratory, the World Health Organization Influenza Centre in Melbourne and most recently the Australian Centre for Genomic Epidemiological Microbiology in Sydney.
