Dr. Haifa El Hentati is an Assistant Professor at the National Gene Bank of Tunisia, where she is responsible for the conservation and characterization of animal genetic resources. Her research focuses on animal biotechnology, environmental DNA (eDNA), antimicrobial resistance, biodiversity, and One Health.

She serves as a One Health focal point at the National Gene Bank and contributes to national and international initiatives at the interface of biodiversity conservation, environmental health, and genetic resource management. She is also a secondary National Focal Point for Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS), contributing to the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol and the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Her current research focuses on innovative approaches to environmental AMR surveillance and the integration of molecular and biodiversity monitoring tools within One Health strategies. Her work aims to strengthen the links between biodiversity, environmental health, and emerging health challenges.
