Maria Miguel Oliveira is a researcher and Invited Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon, based in the Biomathematics Laboratory at the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health. She teaches Biostatistics and Health Research Methods in the Integrated Master’s in Medicine program. 

Her academic trajectory bridges veterinary medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, and planetary health. She completed her Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Lisbon (2022), followed by a Master's Degree in Epidemiology at FMUL (2025), where her dissertation examined cattle as ecological sentinels for human mortality during extreme heat events. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in One Health (2024). In October 2026, she started her Doctorate in Planetary Health Studies at the University of Lisbon.

Dr. Oliveira's scientific output includes 12 peer-reviewed journal publications, 1 book (21st Century Heatwaves in Portugal: Health Impacts and Resilience Strategies), and open-science datasets. She has participated as a researcher in four major scientific projects, including ESA Earth Observation health studies. Her core research interests center on One Health, climate-induced health risks, zoonotic diseases, public health surveillance, and biostatistics.
