Paulos D.J. Loureiro is completing his master’s degree in veterinary medicine at Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon, Portugal. His academic work focuses on One Health, zoonotic diseases, digital health, and infectious disease surveillance, with particular interest in the use of digital technologies to strengthen the detection and monitoring of zoonotic threats.
In September 2026, Paulos will begin his PhD in Information Science and Technology at Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, with research focused on Generative AI and One Health. His research interests include the application of artificial intelligence, and emerging digital technologies to improve zoonotic disease surveillance.
Alongside his academic work, Paulos serves as Fundraising Coordinator at the Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA), Denmark and is a member of the Network for Evaluation of One Health (NEOH), Belgium. Through IDA, he supports international consortium development, funding strategies, and research and innovation initiatives spanning infectious diseases, One Health, digital health, and global health.
Paulos is also CEO of ABAY-CHR Portugal and Uganda and holds leadership roles with ABAY-CHR United States. Through ABAY-CHR, he contributes to the development of practical, secure, and scalable digital health and AI-enabled solutions, including connected health records, digital health platforms, clinical decision support, One Health surveillance, and emerging AI applications. Across his academic and professional activities, his interests center on bringing together veterinary medicine, One Health, digital surveillance, and artificial intelligence to strengthen infectious disease preparedness and response.
