Dr. Ekta Patel is a scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and serves as ILRI’s One Health Communications Coordinator. Her research focuses on the livestock-wildlife interface, investigating its role in disease risk management and ecosystem services. She focuses on evaluating pathogens and antimicrobial risks at animal-environment interfaces, with a strong emphasis on the wild meat value chain. This work is vital for assessing environmental impact and conserving biodiversity. It also enhances surveillance efforts and understanding of behavioral factors, particularly in tracking emerging diseases and reducing global health risks through early detection and effective response strategies.
