Dr Olaa Mohamed-Ahmed BSc MBBCh MSc(Oxon) FFPH, is a UK-trained medical doctor, academic and public health professional. As Consultant in Global Public Health at the UK Health Security Agency, she leads innovative initiatives and projects in One Health, health systems strengthening and operational research.
Dr Mohamed-Ahmed is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health and has been technical advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO) and UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on numerous projects, including development of the One Health Joint Plan of Action, and as member of the Tripartite Zoonosis Guide Monitoring & Evaluation Operational Tool.
With a decade-long association with the University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Population Health, as a clinical academic and part-time researcher, Dr Mohamed-Ahmed has received prestigious funding through an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship and the Oxford-MRC Doctoral Training Partnership. Driven by a commitment to collaborative, evidence-based approaches to complex health challenges, Dr Mohamed-Ahmed envisages a future where One Health principles are applied to non-communicable diseases and nutrition security, as well as communicable diseases and global health security.
At the World One Health Congress, Dr Mohamed-Ahmed will chair a session to share insights from a multi-agency initiative on cross-border One Health simulation exercises to strengthen regional health security in the Horn of Africa and beyond.
