Dr Junxia Song (holds PhD in Veterinary Medicine from China Agricultural University), is a Senior Animal Health Officer at FAO Headquarters and Head of the One Health Coordination and AMR Cluster. She oversees the implementation of FAO’s Action Plan on AMR and coordinates One Health activities in agrifood systems with both internal and external partners.
She led the development and execution of the FAO Action Plan on AMR (2021–2025) and the formulation and implementation of RENOFARM, FAO’s 10-year initiative to reduce the need for antimicrobials on farms and promote sustainable agrifood system transformation. Under her leadership, FAO launched INFARM, an international AMR surveillance and monitoring system that collects critical data in agrifood systems to guide policy decisions. She is currently leading the development of a One Health Framework in Agrifood System.
Dr Song also serves as FAO’s senior liaison officer in the Quadripartite Joint Secretariat on AMR (FAO, UNEP, WHO, WOAH), coordinating FAO’s contributions to AMR governance, including the MSPP, GLG, IPEA, and joint initiatives such as the MPTF. She is a member of the Senior Management Team of the Quadripartite One Health Secretariat, focusing on the coordination and implementation of the One Health Joint Plan of Action (OH-JPA).
